Our Story

Our Story so far…

Doorstep Adventures was founded back in 2010 by myself Rachael and my husband James.

I grew up in Scarborough and had an incredibly happy childhood with summers spent on the North bay beach but left at 19 to travel and pursue a career in hospitality.  It is there that I met James and together we developed our customer service skills in the fast-paced restaurant business in Manchester, Guildford and Leeds.

Having grown our family to four with the addition of William and Olivia, we found the pull of the seaside too strong. We wanted our kids to enjoy long summers spent jumping waves and digging holes in the sand, so we moved back home to Scarborough.

Needing a change of direction with our careers and the Sands complex being built on the North bay beach, we saw an opportunity to open a seaside shop with a difference. We wanted a shop that reflected it’s beautiful surroundings and sold lovely coastal inspired products.

We work hard to handpick collections of clothing and footwear from some amazing lifestyle brands to bring together an offering that is a little different and unique to us. Sitting comfortably alongside this we have a selection of fabulous jewellery, scarves, coastal homewares and gifts that we lovingly merchandise to inspire you. We aim to make our shops a lovely, relaxed place to browse, with a constant flow of new and exciting products.

Now ten years on we have grown the business with more great brands, team members and two new shops, all in equally stunning settings.  Fundamentally though things haven’t changed. We still love delivering the same friendly customer service and great products to customers both old and new.
